Vineyard news
New updates from the vineyard. This year we decided to slightly anticipate the pre-harvest peeling, an important activity in which we remove the basal leaves from both sides, in order to expose the bunches to sunlight and to the breezes that blow steadily in the vineyards of San Polo, favoring optimal conditions for grapes ripening and for the maintenance of perfect health of the vines.
Thanks to the abundant rains of the last few weeks, conditions have radically improved compared to the past months. If we compared the photos of the vineyard taken today to those taken just a month ago, we would go to portray two completely different scenarios, almost as if they were fruit of two different vintages. The grapes are healthy, fresh and with crisp skins, the leaves are luxuriant and green: it seems impossible to think that this particularly happy agronomic condition is the result of a vintage that has been hot and dry for many months.
In the meantime, in the cellar, we are dedicating ourselves to the preparatory activities forthe harvest, completing the last tasks to make sure that everything is ready for the vinification of the 2022 grapes. In particular, today, we finalized the blend of Vignamasso 2021, the new wine Toscana IGT vinified in terracotta with whole bunches, which will be bottled after the harvest. This activity allows us to empty the amphorae, which are ready for the grapes fermentation of the next harvest.
